April 19, 2022
A Recessed Meeting of the Common Council for the City of Princeton, Mercer County, West Virginia was reconvened in the Council Chambers of the Municipal Building on Tuesday, April 19, 2022, at 12:00 p.m. The purpose of the meeting was to conduct a public hearing prior to the adoption of the Levy Rates for FY 2023. In attendance were Mayor David Graham; Vice Mayor Marshall Lytton; Council Members James Hill, Dewey Russell, Joseph Allen and James Hawkins (by phone); City Manager Michael Webb, Finance Director Brian Conner and City Clerk Kenneth Clay. Absent were Council Members James Hill and Jacqueline Rucker; and City Attorney Paul Cassell. A quorum was constituted thereby.
- CALL TO ORDER
Mayor David Graham called the recessed meeting to order.
- LEVY RATES FOR FYE2023
Mayor Graham reported that approval had been received from the WV State Auditor on March 7, 2022, for the following levy rates for the City of Princeton:
Class II Property                              25 cents for every $100 valuation
(residential real estate)
Class IV Property                             50 cents for every $100 valuation
(commercial real estate and personal property)
As required by State Code, the above rates were advertised as a Class II Legal Notice in the Bluefield Daily Telegraph on the dates of March 30th and April 6th, 2022.
III. PUBLIC HEARING
Mayor Graham opened the public hearing at 12:02 p.m. to receive any objections to the aforesaid levy rates.
There being no objections, Mayor Graham declared the public hearing closed at 12:03 p.m.
MOTION:Â Dewey Russell moved the Princeton City Council set the levy rates as advertised and as previously read into the minutes for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 2022, and that a certified copy of said rates be forwarded to the WV State Auditor within the next three days.
Joe Allen duly seconded the motion.
